======Why they don't want people owning mechanical cars======

There is a clear push to get everyone onto Electric Vehicles which are essentially computers on wheels, for various reasons. \\ \\

Part of pushing everyone onto EVs is the push to remove the alternative - existing combustion engine vehicles with accessible replacement parts that a regular person (or today, regular mechanic) can replace without needing the direct assistance (or refusal of assistance) from the manufacturer. \\ \\

We have very suspicious fires in junkyards (why are pieces of metal catching fire?) to remove the stock of spare parts and make it non-viable for people to own and use these cars. \\ \\

It's a similar dynamic to the never-ending software and hardware update cycle, keeping users reliant and at the mercy of whatever new policy updates they want to roll out. \\ \\ 

Without the mechanical car option removed, they can have everyone on a subscription-model EV, restricted in how far they can travel (either by battery capacity or digital GPS fencing) and basically driving around in mobile prison cells. \\
