'Technological advancement' is not some kind of ever-moving-forwards, nobody-at-the-reins, out-of-control phenomenon which keeps yielding new opportunities. For the most part 'technological advancement' involves the deliberate introduction of more surveillance and control from the system while offering superficial or temporary conveniences… which later turn out to be not so convenient.
At the same time, technological breakthroughs or existing technology that is not conducive to the overarching agendas are maligned and suppressed.. or maybe just quietly shelved.
There are countless examples of technology that was healthier, preferable and totally fine, but was pushed aside and shelved in favour of something that was more conducive to top-down control.
You may notice that some areas of technology (e.g. chip manufacture, storage capacity) continue to consistently improve almost like clockwork, and yet other areas of technology stagnate or even regress.
