Removal of earphone jacks
Remember when cellphones had earphone jacks and you'd use wired earphones with a little mic and they would just.. work? Then I got the iPhone 7 and it had that stupid little adapter to go from lightning to 3.5mm, which everyone immediately lost and gave up on.1)
This was not an 'oversight' - the level 1 interpretation is that Apple wanted to sell more airpods by making it inconvenient to use wired earphones. The more accurate interpretation is that 'they' wanted to push the world onto having wireless devices on either side of your brain transmitting continuously through (!) your head.

It was at this point I switched to an old 4G android phone - far from ideal but at least I can plug in earphones
