Morning shows - the view etc - proxy for friend-to-friend gossip.. a way to insert narratives and talking points into your own social circles and 'water cooler' conversation.
Panel Comedy shows (ironic/sarcastic view of the news, which reinforces the news)
Panel Quiz Shows (refresher course for high-school brainwashing to keep adults 'topped up')
Cooking - teaching people what to eat (bad stuff.. baking. gluten.. etc)
Border Patrol
Comedy Series - teach us what to mock, normalise types of behaviour
Late night shows - give us the illusion of being almost 'friends' with celebrities and give them a venue to promote agendas (ie along with their current projects/films/albums) in a Q&A format.
Soaps (serve as proxy for our social circle, we watch their behaviour (monkey-see-monkey-do) and tend to emulate whatever behaviour.
